Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Grocelle ("we", "us", the "app") handles your information. We built Grocelle to help you plan grocery trips and share lists — and we keep the data we collect to what the app actually needs to do that. We do not sell your data or use advertising trackers.

Information you provide

How your data is stored

Account information, lists, and photos are stored on our behalf by Supabase, our backend and database provider, on secure cloud infrastructure. Some data (such as app preferences and a local copy of your lists) is also cached on your device so the app works smoothly and offline.

Photo & camera access

Grocelle requests access to your photo library and camera only so you can add a profile picture, attach a haul photo, or scan a receipt. Access is asked for at the moment you choose one of those actions. We do not browse or upload photos without your action.

Receipt scanning & AI processing

When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to our server and passed to Anthropic (the company behind Claude), which reads the text and returns the list of items. This is the only feature that sends your content to a third-party processor, and it only happens when you choose to scan something.

If you'd rather not use it, simply don't scan a receipt; every other feature works without it.

What's public

If you publish a list to the Discover feed, that list — its title, items, tags, any attached photo, and your public profile (name, handle, picture) — becomes visible to other signed-in users, who can save or fork it. Anyone with a link you share can also view a published list on the web without an account. Lists you don't publish stay private to you, and you can delete a list at any time.

How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

Coupons & deals

Grocelle does not currently show coupons or deals. If we add them later, some links may earn us a commission — we'll update this section to name those partners before that happens, and we will not share your personal information with them.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, your lists and items, your saves and follows, and your uploaded photos from our systems.

Children

Grocelle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
